Two people have been arrested on charges of killing a 28-year-old man from Ghaziabad with a dog’s leash in Greater Noida, police said. The accused placed his body in a Toyota Fortuner car, and set the vehicle on fire to make it look like an accident.
According to the family of the victim, Sanjay Yadav, a realtor from Ghaziabad’s Nehru Nagar area, he had gone to meet the accused – Vishal Rajput and Jeet Chaudhary, Additional DCP Greater Noida Ashok Kumar said, adding that the trio had a beer party.
As the accused became drunk, they had their eyes on Yadav’s jewellery and cash and attacked him, choking the victim to death with a dog’s leash. The accused stole cash and jewellery from Yadav and fled the spot, the police official added.
On Thursday, police arrested the duo from Ghaziabad and recovered a gold belt, two gold rings, a gold chain, cash worth Rs 6,250, two mobiles and the dog’s leash that was used in Yadav’s murder.
While Rajput is a resident of Delhi, Chaudhary belongs to Rajasthan.
“To hide his body, they drove the Fortuner car to a secluded place and placed the body inside the vehicle. They set the vehicle on fire. Police later found the burnt car with the body inside,” Kumar said.
Yadav’s family had filed a complaint after the victim went missing. This prompted the police to track down the two accused, arresting them. However, the police suspect that more people could be behind the crime and are currently investigating the case.
